3 out of 5 stars Poor imitation   August 23, 2010

This shoe must be New Balance's version of the very popular Cascadias and they missed it on these. The fit is poor in several ways, the shoe runs small and my toes were pounding the front of the shoe on every little down hill. The problem was made worse by the shoes loose fit, there is no way to lock down the ankle area and your foot slides all around in this shoe on a trail that was not very techical. I would be sending them back if I wouldn't have got them so muddy. Now I have another pair of shoes for mowing the lawn.

4 out of 5 stars Light, airy, good support   August 23, 2010

Purchased these for a daily 3 miles walk as part of my commute. In general I am satisfied. They are light, comfortable and have very good air flow. I had to buy a 1/2 size larger than normal.

Pluses:
- Light
- Decent arch support
- Tread
- The top toes of the sneakers are a mess which allows a lot of air in so your feet stay nice and cool.

Minuses:
- The mesh does not distinguish between air or water so your feet might get wet with in even a light rain.

5 out of 5 stars These are Awesome Shoes!!   July 16, 2010

I saw a pair of these at a Rack Room shoes, tried them on and immediately loved the way they look and feel!! These shoes are a great design and the colors and styling are very well done. If you like The North Face, Columbia, L.L. Bean and other cool brands of outdoor Trail type shoes you'll love these New Balance MT572 shoes.

These are a combination of a Hiking Boot and a Running/Walking shoe. They have the traction of a Hiking Boot but the light weight and comfort of a great walking shoe without all the BOUNCE that most New Balance shoes have.

I normally stay away from New Balance because their soles are so THICK and bouncy that it's hard to feel what's under your feet but these MT572 are different and have soles that are not too thick giving you great feedback for whats under your feet.

These are NOT running shoes and were never intended to be used for running. They are walking/hiking shoes and give you excellent traction on loose surfaces.

They also fit very true to size and feel GREAT!! Very comfortable and light weight with no hard spots inside the shoe.

The Amazon price for these is FAR LESS than you'll pay in any retail store.

5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny   July 16, 2010

Bought these shoes because I do a lot of hiking trails with the dog on state land. These shoes give more support, to the base of my feet, then any I have tried so far. They make you feel very stable and give a lot of support to the outside of your foot. I plan on buying another pair, that I will keep clean, for daily use.
Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Great Shoe. Comfortable for 3-5 mile runs.   June 24, 2010

I bought this shoe at a FootLocker for $65.

I wish I bought them here since they're cheaper.

I use them for running on a 3.5 mile dirt and grass path that runs near my house. It should be noted these running shoes are NOT made for running on pavement. I bought some New Balace MR7500's for that. These do not have the shock absorption for running on hard surfaces, it gave me shin splints after just 2 miles with these shoes.

However, on a trail (as their design suggests) they are incredibley comfortable. I also like the dark colors with bright yellow streaks. Plus the shoe is also very light, and the mesh top keeps cool air flowing over your foot. Very nice effect.

I only give it 4 stars since after 5 miles on semi-hard, or 2 miles on very hard surfaces I get shin splints with these shoes. With my MR7500's I get no shin splints on hard surfaces for up to 10+ miles.

But its a trail running shoe made for running over dirt and grass. If you intend to run on trails in the woods this is your shoe.
